Did you ever see that movie Blast From the Past with Brenden Fraser and Alicia Silverstone? It’s a movie about a young man who emerges from a bomb shelter after 35 years. He was a baby when his parents went down there after a bomb scare. They’re finally getting low on supplies and he needs to venture out in search of food and supplies.
That got me to thinking about the food they had. That place was equipped with all the comforts of home but I’m sure if it were a real nuclear attack there wouldn’t be any electricity or gas so how would they cook all that they had. I mean, back then wasn’t the only long term food available in cans and besides fruit what else was there that didn’t need to at least be heated.
Now there’s freeze dried food that just needs hot water to restore it to it’s tasty goodness. I’m sorry but I don’t know if I’d consider freeze dried tasty but I do like jerky so in an emergency I’m willing to give it a try.
Prepare Wise has a vast assortment for every meal and some of their selections sound quite good. Lasagna, cheesy potato soup as well as beef and chicken dishes. Who knows, if the Donner party had gone shopping at preparewise.com before they set out on their trip they might have all made it out alive.
