I love a good cookout but I’m not talking about hamburgers and hotdogs. I want steak, roast, chicken and ribs. When they’re cooked outside they have a distinct wonderful flavor that you can’t imitate inside and believe me, I’ve tried. Oh, the fat on a steak after it’s been seared to a crisp is wonderful.
I also like that there are no pots or pans to clean when cooking outdoors but the grill grates can get caked fairly quickly and using a steel brush helps get some of that off but not totally. I usually tell people that just ads to the flavor of the food but I do try to clean it off as best I can and I’m out there after we eat scrubbing and scraping away. Then I was introduced to Grill Daddy.
Grill Daddy is a grill brush with a unique twist. It steam cleans your grill grate to almost newness. It’s got a long handled resevoir that you fill with water and heat up your grill. Turn the grill off and while it’s still hot you use the grill daddy, tipping it slightly to allow some water to escape and follow up with the brush it steam that caked on food clean off the grates. No more scrubbing and scraping.
I used the Grill Daddy one evening before cooking. Yes, even though I’d cleaned the grates after the last use it could still use a good deep cleaning. I took some photos but being it was dusk and I’m not that great a photographer you’ll have to bear with my amateur before and after shots but you can get the idea.
Grill Daddy can be used on cold grills also but for that steam cleaning be sure to heat the grill first.
Grill Daddy offers three models; the Original Grill Daddy, the Grill Daddy Pro for tougher jobs, and the commercial-grade, metal-alloy Grill Daddy Platinum. All Grill Daddys have an ergonomic handle that keeps hands away from heat while providing maximum leverage.
