When I was offered the SanDisk Sansa® slotRadio to review I was a little apprehensive. The literature for the slotRadio didn’t seem very impressive to me. It’s a portable music player but you have to have a micro SD card pre-loaded with music for it to work.
When the slotRadio arrived I wasn’t that excited until I opened the package and actually saw it. The bundle comes with the slotRadio, earbuds, protective cover, USB cable with AC adapter for charging the unit. It also comes with a pre-loaded micro SD card pre-loaded with 1,000 full length songs in a variety of music genres from the Billboard® charts. In reading the manual that came with the slotRadio I quickly found out I could not only purchase pre-loaded micro SD cards with my genre of choice but I can also download my own music to a card using my own computer. This is great, it’s made for those who don’t have computers or don’t want to download their own music but also for those who do. Very impressive. Then I found out the slotRadio is also an FM radio. How sweet is that.
The sound quality to me is what would be expected from a portable unit. The slotRadio is well worth the price of $79.99 from the SanDisk website and pre-loaded cards are $39.99. It can also be purchased at Best Buy and Radio Shack
I think Don will be giving up his wireless headsets hooked up to the stereo in the living room the next time he cuts the grass.
