While I received a copy of Grace of God to facilitate this review, all opinions are my own
Here it is, another family movie that I really enjoyed. Grace of God, staring John Ratzenberger (“Cheers,” WALL-E, Toy Story); Erin Bethea (Fireproof, Letters to God); Lorenzo Lamas (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Falcon Crest”)
When money is stolen from the church Detective Bill Broadly ex cop turned private investigator is called in to investigate. Bill lost is faith many years ago and is very cynical and turned off by any talk of God or Christianity. Throughout his investigation he gets to know the people of the church better and just about has the case wrapped up when a member of the church comes forward and confesses to taking the money. Through this confession and the way the churches handling of both the theft and confession his faith is restored.
This is a feel good movie that Don says felt a bit preachy to him though I didn’t quite see it that way. Yes, there’s one message that’s repeated over and over by most of the characters I felt it had to be part of the story.
Will this movie bring non believers to Christ? I doubt it but for believers and even those on the fence it has a good message and gives for an entertaining evening for the family. I can see it opening up dialogue on right and wrong and stereotyping people. Not everyone fits into that little box you think they should and many will surprise you.
Would I recommend this movie? You bet.
