This is not one of my usual posts about my gripes (well a little) or review or even a giveaway. This is a plea to help a little girl in need.
I’m on a forum with a bunch of mommy bloggers and NO, I’m not the only 40+ member without little ones in the house. But one of our members has a daughter with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. Being 3 Jillian has had a lot of trials as well as many years of the same facing her. Some of that pain and struggling can be helped by the use of botox injections directly into the muscles of her legs to help with the spacisticity and allow Jillian to walk with minimal or no pain using her walker and to just have a semi normal childhood alongside her sister. Manualife Financial, Jillian’s insurance company has denied these injections. The pharmaceutical company kindly donated the first round of injections and the effects were wonderful. Jillian was able to stand flatfooted and actually walk with her walker alongside her sister. The downside, the effects wear off and the injections need to be repeated every few months. After the doctors wrote letters to the insurance company and her mom provided videos of the positive results they still denied the drug.
As a community of bloggers we can fight for Jillian and one way is through an online auction being held today through 10AM PST on Sunday 9/18/11 to help pay for the injections Jillian so desperately needs to not only help her walk and move easier but to be pain free.
I’m asking you to head over to OhRheally.com to participate. There you will see the guidelines for the auction as well as items being auctioned off. Click on the item you’re interested in bidding on and you will be taken directly to that item’s auction page.
