The three left tomorrow get to go on the whirlwind trip back to their hometown. It’s going to be a tough decision after tonight’s performances but I have one that I feel should be going home based on the last 2 weeks but I’m still torn.
Again this week the contestants sang 2 songs, the first was a song that inspired them and the second was from the hits of Leiber and Stoller. Even if you’ve never heard their names you’ve heard their songs. The mentor this week was Lady Gaga and I’m sorry but that girl is strange. Don’t know what was up with her outfit, makeup and hair and I can’t wait to see what she wears when she performs tomorrow night. Even though I’m not a Lady Gaga fan she did give some great advice.
The song that inspired him was Don’t Stop Believing by Journey. He gave a solid performance and even though it was a very subdued performance for James he did great. Per Randy he gave a great tribute to Journey by wearing their T-shirt and the tails which were the trademark of Steve Perry. He got nothing but praises from the rest of the judges.
His second choice was Love Potion Number 9. When I first heard he was singing this I thought it was a strange choice but again he knocked it out of the park.
Her inspiration song was Earth Song by Michael Jackson. Not being a Michael Jackson fan I have to say I never heard the song and even though it wasn’t Haley’s best performance of the season I think she did a great job with it. Jennifer and Randy really criticized her performance or choice of song but Steven gave her nothing but praise. I could tell that Haley was getting a little upset with their criticism.
Her second choice was I Who Have Nothing and she was great. The judges all gave her a standing ovation and Jennifer said THAT was why they’re so hard on her. They know she’s got that in her and need to push her to get it out.
His inspiration was Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning by Alan Jackson. This was another Scotty great and he stayed serious throughout the song. No eyebrow raising or tilting of his head. It was an emotional song and he did it justice. Of course he again received high praises from the judges.
His second choice was Young Blood and he had fun with that one. He was in the interacting with the audience and even though it wasn’t a stellar Scotty performance it was true Scotty. He again received nothing but praise from the judges.
Her inspiration was Anyway by Martina McBride. It was a good performance and she too received high praise from the judges. I noticed last week and again with this song that Lauren says Thank You after a lot of her performances.
Her second choice was Trouble. She had a bit of trouble calling herself evil in the song and Lady Gaga and Jimmy had to convince her it was like playing a role and to have fun with it. She went out of her comfort zone and for the first time didn’t stress over her performance and she was great.
I know it’s going to be difficult this week but who do you think should be going home tomorrow night? Let us know by casting your vote in the poll in the sidebar.
