WOW! What a show tonight, for the first time I liked Jacob. Not enough to vote for him but enough to say he doesn’t deserve to go home this week. Again my vote for the contestant to leave is Paul.
Scotty stayed true to his roots and sang I Cross My Heart. I’m going to say it again, that kid makes it look so effortless.
Jacob picked 2 songs but mentor Jimmy Iovine said Bridge Over Troubled Water was written for him and he was RIGHT. I didn’t feel that Jacob was trying too hard as he does in the other weeks and it just flowed out of him. I am happy that Jimmy called him out for “preaching” last week with his comment that if America didn’t like his song it’s because they were afraid to look in the mirror. As Jimmy told him you haven’t sold an album yet and you’re preaching?
Casey went against Jimmy and sang Nature Boy and did an outstanding job. Just goes to show you the contestants might need a little guidance but they ultimately know what they can and can’t sing. I loved the jazz sound with the bass.
Hailey went with Blondie’s Call Me and even though it wasn’t my most favorite of her performances I thought it was great.
Lauren sang The Climb and I think it was her WOW moment. She was flawless and looked beautiful to boot.
Stefano sang to win tonight with End of the Road and I don’t think he’ll be in the bottom 3 tomorrow and if he is he doesn’t deserve it. I think that pep talk from Jimmy and Will-I-Am really helped his confidence.
James was another one that went against Jimmy and sang what he felt in his heart he needed to do which was Heavy Metal and was awesome. Of course he had a little help on guitar by Zakk Wylde who use to be guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne.
Paul went with Old Time Rock and Roll. Jimmy said he should slide onstage in his underwear but even that wouldn’t have helped his performance. He came out in another floral patterned suit that Steven said looked like one of Porter Wagoner’s. I don’t know if the judges were watching the same performance I was because they all liked it. Of course there haven’t been too many performances the judges haven’t liked this season.
So, who do you think should go home this week? Take a vote in the poll on the right sidebar and lets see how you do this week. You all know who gets my vote.
Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow when Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson is performing with country singer Jason Aldean.
