What Happened to Harry’s Law I Don’t Recognize It Anymore

I’m really disappointed in Harry’s Law this season. Last season, the first, was funny, light with some seriousness thrown in. This season is totally changed. We’ve got Harry and Tommy in a full fledged law practice with associates, one of which is Adam and they’re bring in Ollie Richard, a new lawyer introduced this season, as a partner. The cases are darker and the only high point of the season so far was Jean Smart’s portrayal of the crazy D.A.

Jenna, who I adored last season has only been seen a couple of times and tonight she left the practice to take a job in New York. Malcolm hasn’t been seen and it was revealed tonight that he went off to law school.

Is this change going to cost Harry’s Law some viewers? Have they shot themselves in the foot with this quick turnaround? What was wrong with the law practice/shoe store with Harry and Adam and Tommy Jefferson popping in all the time. Heck, even Tommy isn’t as funny as he was last season. I only hope they realize they made a mistake before it’s too late because I really like Kathy Bates and love the character of Harry Korn.

  1. I have heard a lot of viewers complain about this season. I have even heard a rumor it might get cancelled 🙁

I agree. The show has changed and not for the better. It had a lighter quirky tone before, and now it's just another run-of-the-mill David Kelley legal series. It almost seems like he's just rewriting old episodes of “The Practice” now…I'm outta here!

Another show I don't watch. I am really more into reality tv. :O

I'm glad I never got into this show.

  5. Never watched it! Just can't get into TV that much. 🙂

  6. I've never seen Harry's Law! I don't get to watch that much TV and only tune into a few shows per week.

  7. I loved this last season but haven't found time to check it out this season but now I'm thinking I won't worry too much about it!

  8. Sara says:

It's always a dangerous thing for a show to do too many changes too quickly.

  9. I've never seen this before. I agree with Sara – too much change is a bad thing.

  10. I never could get into this show, but it stinks that it is getting so far away from what it was.

I'm writing comments and getting angrier as I write. These comments are all interesting but tragically they will do nothing to change the minds of narrow minded TV executives who insist that appealing to the lowest common denominator is the only way to make money from advertisers and keep costs down. I'll just continue to watch the few quality shows that are left and watch classic movies on TCM and PBS. Entertainment is slowly but surely being destroyed.

Has Harry's Law been cancelled or just moved to another time and night?

From what I read Harry's Law is scheduled to return in Sundays starting March 11.

Of course it wouldn't surprise me if it got canceled since they changed the whole dynamics of the show. Bring back Malcolm, put her back in the shoe store. That's when it was good, quirky and funny.

I agree with all of Dee's comments. I don't watch TV much, but the original Harry's Law showed lots of promise. I've hated what I've seen of the second season, but I would like the original concept brought back!
