Tandoor Chef Naan Pizza

Growing up in Chicago I love pizza. Not just any pizza but GOOD PIZZA. Don didn’t grow up in Chicago but he feels the same way about pizza, he’s just not as much of a pizza snob as I am. We moved down south 7 years ago and no, not the South Side of Chicago but far enough south that I’m referred to as “The Yankee.” Anyway it’s hard to find good pizza around here so when I was offered the chance to try Tandoor Chef’s Naan Pizza I of course said YES.

Imagine my surprise when these things arrived. They’re not your typical round pizza shape, they’re not even square but more of a rounded edge triangle or egg shaped. They’re big enough for 2 people and you don’t nuke them but have to bake them in the oven. I cheated and used the toaster oven but had to rotate them half way through the cooking time since most things in the back tend to get a bit too dark and that worked.

Now for something entirely different. They aren’t the type of pizza’s you’re use to so if you’re looking for the red sauce with sausage, pepperoni and mozzarella cheese on top you’re out of luck. Tandoor Chef’s Naan Pizzas are a delightful treat for your taste buds.

They come in 4 different varieties and the first one I tried was Cilantro Pesto. I chose this one first because it has tomatoes on it and I LOVE tomatoes on my pizzas. We split this in half and even though it was a perfect serving size I found myself wanting more.

A couple of nights later we tried the Margherita one.  Notice the Italian sounding names here. This was also a great taste and again half the pizza was a good serving size. The next one we tried was Spinach and Paneer Cheese. Now, neither Don or I like cooked green vegetables but on a pizza spinach isn’t that bad and the same held true with Tandoor Chef’s Naan Pizzas. I do have to admit the fourth pizza we received was one that neither of us could bring ourselves to eat, Roasted Eggplant. Just something about a purple vegetable doesn’t look right to either of us so I gave that one to a friend, Chef Michael Sigler. Chef Michael and his wife Jeanne have traveled the world and one of their favorite places is India so they were thrilled when they received this and I haven’t heard any complaints so I guess this one gets a thumbs also.

If I can find Tandoor Chef Naan Pizza in our little town it will be on my grocery list in the future.

    OMG I had no idea these types of pizzas were sold here in the US. When I lived in the UK I used to frequent indian pizza “chippy” shops, they were delicious.

    Both my Hubby/Honey and me grew up in Chicago as avid pizza lovers – and now as grown-ups with more sophisticated palates – we also love Indian cuisine and are big fans of that wonderful bread known as NAAN. Thanks for the intro to this products that I had never heard of before – we will definitely be checking it out very soon!
