Pepperoni Bread

Every year around the holidays I make Pepperoni Bread at least once. I really don’t know how it became a holiday dish since it’s so easy to make and good any time but that’s the way it is. This year is no exception, we’re hosting Christmas at our house and I’m again making my Pepperoni Bread as an appetizer.


Pepperoni Bread
Recipe type: Appetizer
Easy to make with the great flavor of pepperoni, oregano and cheese. Great to serve hot, warm, room temp or cold from the fridge.
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • dash of garlic
  • 8 oz. pepperoni (thinly sliced)
  • ½ lb grated cheese (colby or cheddar)
  1. Thaw 1 loaf of frozen bread dough according to directions. Do not let it rise
  2. Roll out on floured surface to cookie sheet size (oblong)
  3. Cut dough in half to make 2 loaves
  4. In a small bowl beat 2 eggs and add oregano and garlic, mix well
  5. Brush ½ of egg mixture over dough
  6. Layer pepperoni over both halves of dough avoiding about ½ inch on all sides
  7. Place cheese over pepperoni, again avoiding edges
  8. Roll-up each half and seal edges
  9. Placed on ungreased cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with seam sides down
  10. Brush with remaining egg mixture and bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes until nicely browned
  11. Cool slightly and cut on the diagonal
  12. Can be served warm or room temperature

    hmmm I wonder if this would work with ham cuz no one in our family likes pepperoni. I does look good though.

  3. Yes, we have made it with ham. We call it garbage bread. Take all the left over cold cuts and use them. 🙂

    Years ago a co-worker was going to add pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese and have more of a pizza bread.

    Last I checked this wasn't Italy either 😉

    I myself prefer the taste of cheddar
