When JD (the granddaughter) moved here we found out her Nintendo DS was the one thing that kept her from getting bored when we were places that weren’t set up for kids. The problem was, in some situations the sound on the DS was distracting to those around her. I let her use some ear buds but they were too large and hurt her ears. I let her use my headphones but they were too big and heavy for her head and just didn’t fit right. That’s when I started searching for headphones for kids and saw Kidz Gear.
Kidz Gear are made for kids over 2. When I was offered the chance to review these headsets I jumped on it but questioned whether they’d be too small. I mean would 7 be an age that I couldn’t find anything geared for her. I was wrong.
When the headphones arrived I found a carry bag to protect them and a splitter so we could hook up 2 headphones to one device. This is perfect for multiple kids watching the same movie on a tablet or portable DVD or listening to the same music. The headphones also included an Kidz Control volume adapter that limits the volume to about 80% in order to protect their hearing. I tried it out and it really did make a difference.
Another great feature is the volume control on the cable. JD now uses the headphones when she’s on the computer or playing on her DS when we go out.
The headphones she got were pink and white and made of a light weight yet sturdy and flexible plastic that I don’t think would break with normal wear and tear by little hands. The size is perfect for her head and they’re adjusted to the middle size so I know she’ll be able to use these for a few more years. In addition I don’t see her adjusting them or re-sitting them on her head like she did with the larger ones.
Kidz Gear come in a range of colors to please your child such as pink, orange, blue, green and purple. They can be purchased for $19.99 Kidz Gear website or from Amazon, Family Safe Media and Target Stores.
Kidz Gear Headphones would make great birthday gifts for your grandkids, nieces, nephews or even your own kids. With the cool colors they’d even look good in that Easter basket next to the chocolate bunny.
Kidz Gear has offered 1 set of headphones in choice of color to 1 reader.
A pair of Kidz Gear Headphones was received to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
If I won, I would pick the Pink Kidz Gear headphones for my daughter.
I like the blue ones 🙂
These would be great for all the grandkids I have! Bet they’d be nice in purple!
